Plasmotherapy: Beauty from Blood

Plasmotherapy: Beauty from Blood

This rejuvenation method can rightfully be considered the safest and one of the most effective in aesthetic medicine. Plasma derived from the patient's blood is used in cosmetology, as well as in the treatment of hair and teeth. This natural tissue regeneration stimulator does not cause allergies or rejection, has a neutral pH (7.34—7.43), has almost no contraindications, and works well with any other cosmetic procedures.

“Elixir of Youth”

The human body is a treasure trove of beneficial substances; by skillfully utilizing its hidden potential, one can maintain youth for many years. Scientists discovered years ago that if one takes their own or, as medical professionals say, autologous blood, “cleans” the plasma of red blood cells and white blood cells, and injects it into problem areas of the body, appearance will improve for the better.

The fact is that plasma consists of 90% water and 10% dissolved biologically active substances: proteins, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, hormones, and nutritional components – glucose and lipids. This “cocktail” is the basis for the life activity of all cells in the human body, allowing for quick and effective correction of appearance without resorting to plastic surgery.

After performing plasmolifting (an alternative name for plasmotherapy in cosmetology), visible signs of aging disappear:

  • fine wrinkles are smoothed out,
  • skin tone improves (it looks healthy, youthful, and fresh) and its moisture is normalized,
  • the dermis recovers faster after peels, laser resurfacing, and plastic surgeries.

Plasmotherapy is extremely popular in leading aesthetic medicine clinics in Europe, Asia, and the USA.

Procedure Description

About 15 ml of autologous blood is taken from the patient, which is immediately placed in a special centrifuge, where under high pressure, plasma with platelets is separated from red blood cells (erythrocytes). After such filtration, the final concentration of platelets becomes much higher than the initial one.

The “purified” and enriched plasma is injected into problem areas of the body, where platelets initiate the formation of new stem cells in the injection zone. Reacting with the natural filler, fibroblasts begin to produce type I collagen, matrix ribonucleic acid, and matrix metalloproteinases of the first type (MMP-1) at an accelerated pace, which contributes to the restoration of the structure of the intercellular space of the dermal layer of the skin (dermal matrix).

Plasmotherapy is completely painless. The only thing that may cause slight discomfort is the process of acupuncture. Ideally, the procedure is performed in the first half of the day on an empty stomach. If for some reason the patient cannot refrain from eating, breakfast should be light. Additionally, one should avoid fatty and fried foods for a day before plasmotherapy.

Applications of Plasmotherapy:

  1. Trichology:
  • for hair loss,
  • dandruff, itchy scalp,
  • increased activity of sebaceous glands, resulting in hair becoming dirty quickly.
  1. Dentistry:
  • for the treatment of periodontitis and periodontosis,
  • for faster integration of dental implants.
  1. Cosmetology:
  • for the prevention of aging,
  • rehabilitation of skin after stressful conditions,
  • for acne, seborrhea, post-acne, scars (including stretch marks) and pigmentation,
  • for pronounced skin dryness.

Recommendations Before Plasmotherapy

  • undergo all preliminary examinations prescribed by the attending physician
  • do not perform the procedure in the first 2-3 days of menstruation
  • avoid sun exposure for two weeks before plasmotherapy, during the course, and for the same time after its completion (use sunscreen cosmetics before going outside regardless of the season)
  • do not resort to aggressive cosmetic procedures for a week after the session of plasmotherapy.

Possible Contraindications:

  • blood diseases,
  • acute infectious diseases,
  • pregnancy and lactation,
  • severe kidney diseases,
  • ischemic heart disease and stage 3 hypertension.

When the Effect of Plasmotherapy Becomes Noticeable

Plasma injections need to be done several times. Typically, the course consists of 4-6 procedures with intervals of 2-3 weeks between sessions. The first results will be visible two weeks after the start of the injections, and the final results will be seen after the course is completed.

Although this anti-aging therapy method has appeared in our country not long ago, domestic specialists, just like their colleagues abroad, have managed to appreciate its advantages. Rejuvenation through beneficial substances taken from the patient's own blood is the least radical cosmetic procedure. However, one should not expect miracles: doctors warn that one must remember the peculiarities of their body and not expect any super results. For example, a person with rare hair will not gain a thick mane after plasmotherapy, and someone with scars on their face will not have perfectly smooth skin, etc.
